The LUH along Hanover's cycle routes
LUH's properties are conveniently located along the planned Cycle Route 12, which will connect the Marienwerder/Garbsen site even better to the city area in the future. There is already an extensive network of cycle routes in Hanover, some of which have already been completed and others are in the planning stage. You can find the current status on the following map from the ADFC.
Shared Mobility / Renting a bicycle
Anyone who studies or works at LUH and does not own a bicycle or does not currently have one available on site can use the bicycles provided by the shared mobility provider sprintRad/DonkeyRepublic.
LUH students can use the sprintRAD/Donkey Republic bicycle rental service free of charge for 30 minutes per trip. Further information on registration can be found on the GVH website (external link). If you have any questions, please contact the Mobility & Sustainability Department of the ASTA at LUH.
Thanks to a cooperation agreement with Donkey Republic, LUH employees can use the provider's bicycles free of charge for 60 minutes for work purposes. Instructions can be found in the bicycle portal of the employee portal below. If you have any questions, please contact Mobility Management.

Public Transport
The majority of LUH buildings are conveniently located along the ÜSTRA transport association's light rail lines, which allow you to travel sustainably and climate-neutrally. The ÜSTRA tram system is CO2-neutral in operation, as some of the energy used is generated by the trams themselves and the rest has been sourced from CO2-free electricity since 2015. If you would like to arrive or depart by tram, you will find the relevant ÜSTRA timetable information below.
Since 1 October 2024, LUH students have been able to use public transport throughout Germany easily and in a climate-neutral manner across all fare zones thanks to the Deutschlandticket included in their semester ticket.
The relevant regulations of the Deutschlandticket apply – the LUH Student Union (AStA) provides more detailed information about usage and restrictions on the following website.
Motor Vehicle
Sustainable company vehicles
To promote the transition to sustainable mobility, Leibniz University Hannover has decided that, when procuring new company vehicles, the focus must be on zero-emission powertrains.
A climate-friendly vehicle fleet is a key area of action for achieving the goal of climate neutrality, as set out in the Guidelines for Climate and Environmental Protection. The electric service vehicles can be charged at specially installed internal charging stations on the university grounds or at a cooperating local energy supplier. More detailed information can be found in the employee portal linked below.
Electric vehicle charging points on campus
To enable students and visitors to charge their electric vehicles conveniently, LUH is installing charging points at central university locations with associated car parks, in cooperation with a local energy supplier. You can find the relevant locations in the Federal Network Agency’s charging point register or in the relevant apps. The aim is to create attractive conditions for sustainable mobility at all locations.
