There are numerous ways in which students and staff can get involved in sustainability efforts at Leibniz Universität Hannover.

STUDENT ACTION AND OPPORTUNITIES TO GET INVOLVED

  • 1. Become part of the Green Office

    The Green Office is always looking for student assistants to join our team. Current vacancies are advertised on the Leibniz Universität Hannover job board and on the stud.ip community platform. We are of course also interested in receiving unsolicited applications. The central tasks of our student assistants include participation in and supervision of the various thematic areas, projects and initiatives in the field of sustainability.

  • 2. Enrol in a degree programme with a focus on sustainability

    Leibniz Universität Hannover offers a number of degree programmes with a focus on sustainability and climate protection. For further information please refer to "Teaching" where you can find some examples on sustainability-related courses. The SDG-Campus also offers the possibility to learn more about sustainability online and earn credit points.

  • 3. Join research projects in the field of sustainability

    As part of their coursework, students can get engaged in research activities with a sustainability theme. We also offer the possibility to interested Bachelor and Master students to focus on various sustainability-related issues as part of their thesis work.

  • 4. Participate in events

    At Leibniz Universität Hannover (LUH), there are numerous events such as lecture series or summer schools where students learn about sustainability and climate protection. Students are entitled to attend these events free of charge.In addition, the Green Office regularly provides information on current measures taken by LUH in the form of presentations, for example within the framework of our “November of Science” project or our Jour Fixe International online event.

  • 5. Take part in initiatives

    At Leibniz Universität Hannover, there are various initiative groups that deal with the topic of sustainability and climate protection. Our "Students for Future" form a central part.

  • 6. Implement own projects with support

    Students at Leibniz Universität Hannover who would like to implement their own project for more sustainability on campus, in the city or in the Hannover region receive concrete support as well as credit points for the project work through the 'Projects for Future' programme of the ZQS/Key Competencies.     The Green Office team is happy to provide support and advice on implementing your own sustainability projects on campus and financing them. 

STAFF ACTION AND OPPORTUNITIES TO GET INVOLVED

  • 1. Participate in events and continuing education programs

    Leibniz Universität Hannover (LUH) offers numerous events, such as the lecture series or summer schools, in which university staff can participate free of charge and obtain information about sustainability and climate protection. In addition, the Green Office regularly provides information about current measures at LUH in the context of presentations, for example at the "November of Science" or the "Jour Fixe International".

    Starting in the 2022 winter semester, a continuing education programme in the field of "(University) Education for Sustainable Development" will be offered to staff as part of LUH’s human resources development.

  • 2. Conduct research on sustainability topics

    There are already various projects and publications related to sustainability in which Leibniz Universität Hannover staff are involved. Networking across the different research centres offers a fruitful approach. The Green Office is always happy to provide advice on external funding programmes for sustainability and climate protection and help with funding applications.

  • 3. Apply for University Quality Improvement Funds extended by the "KlimaTopf” initiative

    Leibniz Universität Hannover has introduced the so-called "KlimaTopf" for the funding of sustainability and climate protection measures related to the Integrated Climate Protection Concept.

    In addition to building and construction projects, there is also the opportunity to carry out interdisciplinary and/or innovative teaching-learning projects on the subject of sustainability and climate protection.

  • 4. Get involved in initiatives

    At Leibniz Universität Hannover, there are various initiative groups committed to sustainability goals and climate protection. These include, among others, the group "LUH for Future". "LUH for Future" also has its own group on stud.ip, where interested parties can sign up to receive up-to-date information.

  • 5. Offer courses on sustainability topics

    At Leibniz Universität Hannover (LUH), there are already numerous courses in which academic staff discuss sustainability topics with their students or work on related issues based on the principle of learning through research. Staff are always welcome to contact the LUH Green Office with their ideas.

    The Green Office is happy to provide support and advice in the conception and development of courses that promote higher education for sustainable development. The Green Office is also here to develop research and work assignments in cooperation with staff if required.
