The Green Office is the central point of contact for all matters relating to sustainability at Leibniz University Hannover. It also acts as a bridge between the university board represented by the Vice-President for International Affairs and Sustainability, the Senate Working Group on Sustainability and other stakeholders at the university.
The Green Office team currently consists of six employees, who also work proportionately in Department 3 and the Leibniz School of Education. These include:
- Dr. Stephanie Mittrach (speaker for sustainability as a member of the President’s staff / Head of Green Office)
- Petra Schmiedner (environmental protection officer)
- Katrin Metge (energy management)
- Tobias Fischer (energy management)
- Timo Holthoff (project "Teaching Change")
- Jonas Koch (project "DiNaMo")
Five student assistants are currently providing support:

What we do
The tasks of the Green Office include:
- networking and interdivisional coordination of topics, projects and sustainability initiatives and climate action in academic research, teaching, on the campus and in the community
- creating and supporting sustainability initiatives and projects
- identifying new topics and measures on sustainability
- organising events and workshops on the topic of sustainability
- reporting and presenting results in committees and meetings
