Leibniz Research Centre GEO (FZ:GEO)

"Looking at Planet Earth as the subject of research from different perspectives.” This is the mission statement of the Leibniz Research Centre, with its abbreviated name FZ:GEO. The centre was established in 2018 and approaches the subject from different perspectives by applying various methods and research approaches. Members of the research teams explore the Earth system and strive to provide answers to humanity's pressing questions, many of which are related to Earth System Science. Further information on the Leibniz Research Centre can be found here.

Many of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals are linked to issues related to our interaction with the Earth as human’s habitat. In particular, climate change and the supply of water and food, but also a responsible and sustainable sourcing of raw materials for industry, aided through innovations in energy and transportation, are examples of issues that require a holistic understanding of processes and an interdisciplinary approach.

Man’s efficient cause lives on in the actions of others
