Corporate Crime, Kriminalitätstheorie und Organisationssoziologie

Abstract

Criminological insights concerning the topic of corporate crime show few and contradictory empirical findings and they are mainly built on theories originating from the field of street-crime offenses. Even though the object of research is pointing to organizations as a special form of social order, insights of social-scientific research on organizations are mostly ignored. This leads to problems of explanation and it aggravates the development of a fruitful field of research. The article summarizes the current state of research on the topic of corporate crime, it depicts immanent gaps in explanations and it outlines consequences resulting from a consideration of organizational-sociologically based findings. It is proposed to use some proved results from this field of research to reinterpret cases of corporate crime.
