- Abstract
The mechanical recycling of textiles and textile blends is a crucial step in the circular economy that aims to reduce the environmental impact of the textile industry. Given the growing amount of textile waste and the associated environmental challenges, it is essential to develop effective recycling methods. In this article, an in-depth look is taken at the recycling approaches of mechanical recycling. The current possibilities offered by these processes and their opportunities are shown. At the same time, a critical look is taken at the challenges that can arise during the recycling process. This will give a comprehensive overview of the potentials and hurdles of these important recycling methods.
