Abstract

Immune ageing is associated with reduced immune function and chronically elevated inflammatory processes. Avoiding micronutrient deficiencies is essential for maintaining adequate immune function, but it is not sufficient, as immune ageing is also influenced by other nutrition-related factors. Plant-based diets have the potential to delay immune ageing due to their variety of antiinflammatory ingredients. To implement plant-based diets more effectively, strategies adapted to further age-related changes are needed.
